FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CHICAGO, IL—Join the Midwest Institute for Sexuality and Gender Diversity as members of its leadership highlight some of the major issues facing queer and trans+ individuals in our region. The inaugural State of the Region panel will take place at the 25th annual Midwest Bisexual Lesbian Gay Transgender Ally College Conference (MBLGTACC).
During their sixty-minute conversation, panelists will provide their views of the Midwest’s most pressing issues concerning LGBTQIA+ persons, recommend places for tailored attention, and propose considerations for the future. Through engaging with attendees own perspectives, the State of the Region aims to educate, motivate, and empower.
Panelists include Katie Barnes, chief development officer and former board member of Campus Pride; Roze R.B. Brooks, chief operations officer and co-chair of MBLGTACC 2014 in Kansas City, Missouri; Justin Drwencke, chief executive officer and co-director of MBLGTACC 2013 in Lansing, Michigan; Lee Dyer, vice president for community accountability and founder of BOIS of the Triangle; and Nick Pfost, MPP, chief marketing officer and former chairperson of the Alliance of Queer & Ally Students at Michigan State University.
The State of the Region will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 10:20-11:20 AM CST (workshop session 3) at Navy Pier Festival Hall A, room 313.
