All new everything—we’ve re-launched the entire MBLGTACC website
September 22, 2018
Welcome—today, we launched the all-new website for MBLGTACC, the Midwest Bisexual Lesbian Gay Transgender Ally College Conference.
For the past two years, members of the Institute’s volunteer staff have been working with campus planning teams to test new features, build long-term infrastructure, and collect feedback on how we can best provide information that attendees, presenters, sponsors, and exhibitors need to know. From architecture to user experience, we committed ourselves to the accessibility and context that define the conference.
So, what’s new? We refreshed the look-and-feel of the website, including much-needed upgrades to navigation, way-finding, and search. Pull it up on your mobile device, too—the site is device-agnostic, with all critical functions and information accessible on phones and tablets.
Four other improvements of note:
- We’ve created resource pages and quicklinks to gather information specifically for attendees, presenters, and sponsors and exhibitors;
- We’ve added topical tags, allowing users to easily pull together related content from across the site;
- We’ve designed the entire site to adhere to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG/W3C); and
- We’ve brought together information on past, current, and future conferences—previously stored in multiple locations—to illuminate the history of the conference and provide updates from its hosts.
A lot has changed, and several tweaks are still in progress. Look in the coming months for the addition of a photo-rich timeline of conference history, as well as the launch of registration and workshop submissions, announcement of speakers and entertainers, and opening of bids to host the conference in 2021.
We’d love to hear from you! What do you think of the site? Can you find what you need, or at least find where information will be once it’s made public? Are you having trouble with any of the colors, font sizes, or functions? Let us know how we can do better. Submit a note through our contact form or drop us a line at email@example.com.
